[Unknown site tag]Well, the headaches I've been having almost constantly for over a month now drove me to the doctor last week. He decided an MRI was in order to determine if I really did have a brain. The MRI was this morning, and was uneventful; the scan took about 20 minutes. The results will be back on Wednesday. Before the MRI you have to fill out a long questionnaire to make sure you don't have any metal objects in your body. I was amazed looking down the list of implants how much they can now replace with mechanical parts... I was happy to report that I don't have a pacemaker, any screws, shunts or clips, an eyelid spring, or indeed a penile implant. The receptionist recounted a story of an elderly man that had been in a few weeks ago. Having completed the survey, and been moved into the staging area before the test, the technician noticed a scar on the guy's chest. On asking about it the patient said "Oh you know what - I DO have a pacemaker!". I guess it's easy to forget... Since pacemakers are stopped cold by the MRI unit, it was probably as well the techie noticed!

Lately my headaches have been mainly centered on the right of the head and behind the right eye. On a scale of 1 (almost unnoticeable) to 10 (unbearable) the pain moves between 3 and 7. The 5+ range is really quite disabling; I have trouble concentrating on work tasks. Today started around 5, and is now a comfortable 3 :-)

At one point I'd planned on going with [personal profile] billeyler to the Poconos this weekend - just as well I decided to save on th budget instead. I'm pretty sure I would not have been able to dance; I'd have ended up spending the entire weekend in bed - and not in a good way!
