As the world spins...
Jun. 3rd, 2006 09:21 amSo Thursday night I woke around 4am to find the bedroom slowly revolving. By 6am, I felt fine. This morning I woke to find things on the move again. I made it through my morning shower and breakfast, with the distinct feeling I'd just stepped off a roller coaster. The feeling is subsiding, but it's still there. Sitting very still is at this point is a good option, because sideways movement of my head sets the spinning feeling going again.
A little over a year ago, I had labyrinthitis. This is a viral infection of the middle ear. It started just this way, then on the third day became severe and essentially immobilized me for seven days. The doctor told me at the time that some people have one attack, and never get symptoms again. Others get it regularly. I still have tablets left from the last attack, now resurrected from the medicine drawer and waiting on the bathroom counter. The tablets make me very sleepy, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this attack will be mild.
