Michigan plan
May. 8th, 2008 10:45 amI see some Democrats in Michigan are proposing a 69-59 split on delegates (Clinton/Obama). This sounds fair. Although Obama wasn't on the ballot, there was a major local campaign to get people to vote 'uncommitted' (a selection allowed in Michigan), if they didn't want Hillary as candidate. It seems reasonable to now allocate that vote to Obama.
The result was that 40% voted uncommitted - a clear indication they followed that advice, and did not want Hillary. Hillary polled 55%. A 69-59 split is realistic, given the voting pattern, while not really affecting the balance in the overall race - 10 votes either way won't hurt Obama's lead.
Obama would be wise to accept this offer; but I doubt Hillary will go for it - she wouldn't have any whining rights if she did.
