Please explain why you vote for a party that can do this:

"Bill Bolling, the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor in Virginia, withdrew an order for 150 copies of a Minneapolis-St. Paul tourist guide -- which was to be handed out to the state's delegation to the Republican National Convention -- because of the publication's inclusion of attractions for gays and lesbians. "Having a section dedicated solely to GLBT will be a BIG problem for many of our folks. We simply can't hand them out," according to an e-mail from Melissa Busse, Bolling's political director."

Just one of hundreds of examples of Repulican intolerance and less-than-equal treatment of gays and lesbians.

So you are voting republican because...?

Just downloaded Chrome, to check it is compatible with our websites here. Seems to be working reasonably well. Like most products from Google, Chrome is 'beta' software. I don't think they ever actually release a final version of their products.

It's fast and efficient, with a cute 'incognito' mode that changes the tab logo to a 'secret agent' - maybe the DC convention should use this browser to work with their spy theme! I like the combined address bar and search box - Chrome tries to figure out what you want from the content entered. Enter 'black hole' and it'll search Google for that phrase. enter 'livejournal.com' and it brings up the requested page. It also works on context as you type, to predict what it is you need. For example, I typed "where are outlook fi" and was offered "Where are Outlook files stored" and Where are outlook files saved" as options. This seems like it could be a great timesaver.

It doesn't load all pages correctly though - and that's always going to be a problem when competing with IE, which has over 90% of the market for browsers. Inevitably, web designers design for compatibility with IE, and then check for compatibility with others, such as Safari and Firefox. However, if it comes down to a small incompatibility, the designer is bound to pick the IE option - it just makes sense for the consumer of your product.

IE8 theoretically is compliant with all popular standards - that might ease this problem. I'm assuming Chrome is standards-compliant, though I haven't found a list of those standards online yet.

It loads noticeably faster than IE or Firefox. And apparently, it will let me post to LJ!
