Sep. 7th, 2008 11:45 amThe world ends on Wednesday, Sept 10th, when CERN turns on the end-of-the-world machine, otherwise known as the Large Hadron Collider. Scientists are suing to stop the end of the world, but I doubt they'll win:

So I guess we don't have to worry about Palin any more.
(Actually, according to the British newspapers, the end might take a while; Wednesday will just be the beginning of the end. The black hole might sink to the middle of the earth, from where it might just create a quasar first, before swallowing us up completely. In that case, there will be a great light show over the Indian Ocean for a while).
At least it's nice to know we're doing our own demolition; the Vogons won't have anything to do with it.
