Air powered cars
Feb. 3rd, 2009 04:10 pmI love this idea. I know it started with a French company a few years ago, but apparently assembly-line production will start in 2011. The idea is to power a car on compressed air, regenerating the air using a small internal combustion engine, or an external (electric) compressor.
They predict a range without using the combustion engine of 60 miles - enough for commuting and around town driving. Turn on the motor and you have a range of about 100 mpg of gas. Plus it'll work on gas, diesel, ethanol and even cooking oil!
Will it really happen? Will the beleaguered traditional auto industry kill it off? Who knows. I'd buy one!
