Got $10,000 for a cup of coffee?
Jun. 5th, 2009 12:09 pmThis is the Bonmac 105 syphon coffee system from Lucky Cremas (a Japanese company).

This $10,000 system is apparently the latest thing. The lower chamber is filled with water, then heated by the halogen lamp. As the water boils, it is forced up to the top chamber, which contains the ground coffee. Once the water has moved up to the top chamber, the heat is removed, and the resulting suction in the lower chamber as it cools sucks the coffee back into the lower chamber. Amazing.
Here's a traditional Kona coffee maker. It does the same thing (though the halogen heat source is not included - you need a stove).

Price? $69.
I'm sure the difference in taste is worth the extra $9,931.
