Gates is apparently looking at ways to not enforce DADT under certain circumstances. If the service member didn't actually out themselves, and wasn't discovered to be gay by the military police by accident, but was instead outed by a jealous ex or someone else acting maliciously, then they might let that person continue to serve quitely, because they didn't "tell" and no-one "asked".

Just how many angels can dance on the head of a pin anyway?

In the list of whitehouse salaries published today (http://www.whitehouse.gov/assets/documents/July1Report-Draft12.pdf) I'm not so much surprised at the higher-end salaries, but at the job titles of some of the lower paid.

At my current University salary, I could have my pick of several jobs, including Deputy Director of the Whitehouse website, various managerial positions, and a staff Counsel. (Assuming I was actually qualified for any of these).

And of course I'd be living in Washington instead of Albuquerque - a much higher cost of living.

I think I'll stay where I am thank you... sorry to disappoint you Mr President, but you don't pay enough for me to work for you!
