Computer envy!
Aug. 9th, 2009 08:29 pmBill bought a new computer to replace the decades-old Gateway laptop he's been using as an office system. (He has a nice Dell laptop for calling). The new desktop is an HP machine with a quad core Intel processor; 8GB of memory, and a 640GB hard drive. The price included a lovely 20" widescreen monitor and built in stereo speakers, keyboard and mouse - all for $700 (after rebates). That is just such an incredible price. I remember paying $3000 for my first 286-based personal computer back in 1988 ! The power/price ratio for computer equipment is quite amazing. It is running Vista Home Premium, and has a free upgrade to Windows 7.
And so I'm looking at my aging computer (which was high-end four years ago) and thinking - I want one of those too!
