Spent some happy time tonight planning an around the world cruise for us when we both retire. Well, I'm already retired of course, so this would be for when Bill joins me. Hopefully, social security will last until we're both able to draw it.
Option A: Around the world cruise on Holland America. 112 nights, an ocean view room is only $22,000 each, though with a 'partially obstructed' view.
Option B: Around the world cruise on Cunard: 108 nights, ocean view room, for about $26,000 each.
Option C: Around the world cruise on Crystal: 109 nights, ocean view room, for about $51,000 each.
I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable Cunard's Queen Mary 2 was; I expected that to be the most expensive option but it wasn't.
The Crystal cruise has an excellent itinerary, and although it's at least $25,000 more per person than the other options, it does include all the booze you can drink, which I think mitigates the price differential somewhat.
